The whiteband… we are seeing it more and more. Here at the Global Call to Action Against Poverty international meeting in Uruguay over 150 people are wearing a version of the whiteband. I was given a white beaded version from India and a band of seeds made by women in Brazil and the Russian whiteband with its anti-poverty message. Activists from all over the world are here sporting in solidarity their whitebands joined together in their national campaigns to eradicate poverty and inequality.

Today, the conference was alive with discussions from Latin America, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Europe and North America all embracing the challenge of evolving their global model to eradicate poverty and inequality. The resilience of civil society is everywhere here.
